Auch in den USA kommt irgendwann mal die schönste Zeit des Jahres: Urlaub. Familie Smith hat sich heuer eines der beliebtesten Ziele in den Vereinigten Staaten ausgesucht, den Grand Canyon National Park. Aaron Smith aus San Francisco hat hierfür seinen alten Beetle aus der Garage geholt und das Gepäck auf dem Dachgepäckträger verstaut. Zusammen mit seiner Frau Jenny und Hund Tyson machten sie sich auf die Reise. Auf der langen Fahrt besuchten sie viele andere bekannte Orte, wie den Yosemite Nationalpark in Kalifornien, Las Vegas in Nevada oder den Bryce Canyon in Utah, bevor sie am heutigen Morgen den Grand Canyon erreichten. Abseits der Touristenströme fand Aaron einen Platz, wo er seinen Beetle fast direkt am Rand des Canyon parken konnte. Beeindruckt von der Schönheit der Natur setzt sich Aaron auf einen Fels am Canyon-Rand und lässt alles auf sich wirken. Sein treuer Hund Tyson gesellt sich zugleich zu ihm, während Jenny dabei ist ein paar Fotos für die daheim gebliebenen zu machen...

Das Diorama entstand für einen Wettbewerb der Firma Noch (www.mymocom.com), bei dem es den zweiten Platz errang. Vorgegeben war ein Rahmen, welcher 15 x 13 x 5 cm misst. In den Rahmen wurde eine Aufnahme des Canyons geklebt und im Anschluß das Gelände mittels Styrodur und Gips gestaltet. Anschließend wurde das Gelände farblich behandelt, mit Steinen und Schotter versehen und einige Büsche gepflanzt. Zum Schluß wurden die Figuren der Firmen Noch und Preiser, sowie der Volkswagen Käfer (USA = Beetle) der Firma AWM auf ihrem Platz geklebt.

Even in the USA someday comes the most wonderful time of the year: Holiday. Smith family has chosen this year one of the most popular destinations in the United States, the Grand Canyon National Park. Aaron Smith of San Francisco has his old Beetle out of the garage brought and stowed the luggage on the roof rack. Together with his wife Jenny and dog Tyson they started on the trip. On the long journey, they visited many famous places such as Yosemite National Park in California, Las Vegas / Nevada or the Bryce Canyon in Utah, before this morning they reached at the Grand Canyon. Away from the crowds found Aaron a place where he could almost park his Volkswagen directly at the edge of the canyon. Impressed by the beauty of nature, Aaron puts on a rock at the canyon's rim and let it work on you. His faithful dog Tyson joins him at the same time, while Jenny is a few photos for the back home has to make...

The diorama was created for a competition of the German company Noch (www.mymocom.com), in which it finished in second place. Was given a frame which measures 15 x 13 x 5 cm. In the frame was a picture of the canyon taped and subsequently designed the site using Styrodur and gypsum. Subsequently, the area was covered in color, provided with stones and gravel and planted some bushes. Finally, the figures of the companies Noch and Preiser as well as the Volkswagen Beetle from AWM were glued in place.
