1896: Goldfunde am Klondike River auf kanadischer Seite machten Alaska zum Durchgangsland für Goldsucher Funde in Nome (1898) und Fairbanks (1902 bis 1906) ließen auch Alaska zum Ziel eines Abenteuerstroms werden.
1906: Einrichtung einer Territorialverwaltung
1912: Beschränkte Selbstverwaltung
1958: Der Kongreß gibt dem Land durch das Staatsgründungsgesetz uneingeschränkte Selbstverwaltung

Die Territory of Alaska State Patrol wurde 1941 gegründet. 1953 änderte sich der Name in Alaska Territorial Police. Die Abteilung der öffentlichen Sicherheit entstand 1959 unter der Bezeichnung Alaska State Police. Die allgemeine bekannte Bezeichnung „Alaska State Troopers“ wurde 1967 übernommen.

The Territory of Alaska Highway Patrol was created in 1941. In 1953, the name was changed to the Alaska Territorial Police. When Alaska became a state in 1959, the Alaska State Police became part of the new Department of Public Safety. The current name of „Alaska State Troopers“ was adopted in 1967.
